Born in the industrious city of Gary, Indiana, ShaSha Brooks has woven a narrative of resilience, compassion, and determination throughout her journey in the realm of healthcare. As a highly qualified and compassionate professional, ShaSha’s story is not just a testament to her medical expertise but a profound illustration of the values instilled by her family.
Educational Triumphs : ShaSha’s credentials speak volumes about her commitment to excellence. With a diverse range of qualifications, including LPN and MA, and a background in laboratory management, she has become a multifaceted force in the healthcare landscape. Her educational odyssey began in 2009 when she earned an Associates Degree in Paramedicine, laying the foundation for her future endeavors. In 2013, she further enriched her knowledge by obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Alabama. ShaSha’s journey continued as she earned the title of a Registered Medical Assistant from Ivy Tech in 2018 and added another feather to her cap in 2020 with an LPN from Chamberlain University.
Family, Compassion, and Inspiration: ShaSha’s motivation stems from her intimate connection to her family, especially her mother, who battled congestive heart failure, diabetes, and epilepsy. Being the sole child, ShaSha felt a deep sense of responsibility to care for her loved ones with serious medical conditions, paving the way for her illustrious career in healthcare.
Her grandfather, Thomas Jc Knight Sr., stands as her enduring inspiration. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1934, he faced adversity early in life, being pulled away from elementary school to work on a farm. His journey took a transformative turn when he became the yard boy for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Despite facing illiteracy, Thomas moved to Gary, IN, at a young age, raising eight children and becoming a skilled entrepreneur in tile laying, leaving an indelible mark on the community.
Passion, Hobbies, and Advocacy: ShaSha’s passion extends beyond medical expertise; she finds fulfillment in working with hospice patients, demonstrating a commitment to compassionate end-of-life care. Her advocacy reaches the heart of the community, volunteering yearly with Chicago Street Medicine to care for the homeless and supporting women who have experienced domestic violence through her involvement with St. Judge.
Career Challenges and Turning Points : Coming from the small town of Gary, ShaSha faced stereotypes that often closed doors. Undeterred, she remains resolute, aspiring to “buy the building someday.” A significant turning point in her career occurred during the pandemic of 2020, as she shifted gears from her role as a Human Resources Director to care for her ill grandfather and support her father diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. This poignant experience highlighted the importance of family and the sacrifices made in the pursuit of a meaningful life.
Future Aspirations : Looking ahead, ShaSha envisions further academic pursuits, aiming to attend Northwestern University to obtain a Doctoral Degree in Medicine. On a personal level, her goal is to break generational curses and empower individuals to recognize their innate potential, echoing the resilience instilled by her family.
